Fishing on Dawnay Estates

The Dawnay Estates offer a very wide variety of fishing both directly and through clubs, including a stretch of fishing on the River Esk.

Salmon Fishing

The Estate offers Salmon fishing on the River Esk which is the principle salmon river in Yorkshire. The season runs from 1 March to 31 October and the Esk supports a good run of Autumn fish. The fishing is by fly, spinner or worm.

Sea Trout Fishing

The Estate is fortunate to own fishing rights on the River Esk which is not only the principle Salmon river in Yorkshire but also the finest Sea Trout river in England. The River Esk is noted for its very good autumn, and fishing is by fly or spinner.

Brown Trout

Dawnay Estate offers the opportunity to fish for brown trout on the River Esk, close to Whitby.
